I Love You
By Amy Fortuna

My heart cries out to touch you.
One moment-how can the world change so?
I whisper love words in the dark
To myself, speaking of you
Watching your face in the firelight
Dying to move against you.

How many years does it take
To make a friend a lover?
None at all, if both wish love
A thousand would not suffice
If I alone feel desire.

And the words-so complicated
Are but three and short
But they shake universes
Bound by subtle meaning.

Hope personified you've been called
Indeed in you all my hopes are found
Will you fulfill them, or leave me aching?

Your hands touch mine in the darkness
"You are good for me, friend," you say.

Ah, but love, Estel, I would be so much better!
